ACTIVE MEMBERS PROGRAM

Policies and Guidelines

  1. All members will be considered for the program once membership is confirmed.
  2. Members will be given benefits and acknowledgement for achieving and maintaining the targeted participation percentage points.
  3. Members need to obtain at least 75% of all possible points that are offered throughout the period of membership.
  4. Members should maintain an active participation throughout the years to keep the percentage earned.
  5. Point percentages will not be rounded up and will have to achieve at least 75% to receive full benefits of the program.
  6. Point distribution per semester is as follows:
        • Weekly Meetings: 10 pts. each
        • Social Events: 5 pts. each
        • Career Fair: 5 pts.
        • Career Workshop / Mock Interviews or Resume Critique: 3 pts.
        • Site Tours: 8 pts. each
        • Community Service Events: 10 pts. each
        • Helping out at various SCMA events: 10 pts. each
  7. Members who signed up for events (such as mock interviews or helping out at various SCMA events) must be present for the time slot selected. Members who fail to do so without legitimate reasons or earlier notification (at least 24 hours) will not receive their points and a 5 point reduction will be applied.
  8. Allowances are given to members with special conditions or conditions that are accepted by the Faculty Advisors and Executive Board Members. (All conditions that are filed need to be kept by the Vice President of Administration for future references)
  9. Allowable conditions include and are not limited to: work or schedule conflicts with meeting or event times, issues regarding acceptance into the SCM program, etc. (Each member’s condition will be evaluated and the target percentage point will be determined according to the conditions)
  10. Temporary conditions for program pilot
      • Seniors graduating between Spring and Fall 2012 will have an allowance of receiving benefits of the Active Members Programs for obtaining at least 65% of the total points due to the shorter time frame that the program is introduced for.
      • If a particular member does not graduate by the anticipated date, i.e. by Fall 2012, member will have to abide by the common policies and guidelines for receiving benefits from the Active Members Program.
      •  Allowances are also considered for students in this category.

Active Members Program Benefits

  1. Acknowledgement of participation in SCMA as active members that contribute to the association and the society. (Can be written on resumes etc.)
  2. An “Active Member List” will be kept by the Executive Board of SCMA and will be accessible by various organizations, firms and companies as an acknowledgement of participation in the association.
  3. Graduating seniors will receive a SCMA Graduation Stole.
